WEEKEND FINDS

O.K this one is a little late seeing as we are nearly up to the next weekend, but I ventured out last weekend on a quest for some treasures- I didn't have great success but managed to come home with a few  things that I thought our blog readers might like to see..

There seems to be a little bit of a grey and yellow theme going on which was unintentional , but I like it!

Bec and I have never come across an old demijon that we didn't want to take home and these two were no exception..

So not a great haul, but some good treasure all the same! All of these are already on display at out Vintage Shed stall, where I will be tomorrow working hard behind the counter!

Bye for now, Simone xx

Clever Ideas

One of the reasons Simone and I love "vintage" so much is because you can add so much character to your home without spending a fortune.

If you like to be a little different and are prepared to think outside the square, the vintage world is your oyster. Take this idea.......

A simple large vintage flashcard + an old wooden trouser hanger = an instant wall hanging, perfect for just about anywhere, but think childrens bedrooms, office spaces, kitchen walls...like I said, pretty much anywhere . Make a really bold impression by hanging 3 or 4 in a row or grouped together.

this is the actual colour of the cards.....images below were lighter due to flash.

to give you an idea of size....next to my i-phone.
21cm x 14cm (8" x 5.5")

We have 60 of these fabulous flash cards for sale right now. Don't delay...they will not last long.
At $5 each (minimum purchase of 2) plus postage of $2 how can you not indulge?

Shoot us an email with your requests- first in best dressed.

BUTTERFLIES....

Wow - what a haul from Bec, I saw them all on this here blog for the first time as I had to sit that one out.I am looking forward to seeing them all in the flesh on Friday at the Vintage Shed.

So yesterday we had a little de-clutter in our storage unit head office and it was long overdue.. we each went home with little projects out of odds and ends that we re-discovered. About 6 months ago I had a little obsession with old butterfly bookplates, so I jumped online and found the perfect one with over 50 watercolour plates. Then as usual a new obsession came along and this little project got shoved to the back of the pile..But last night after our de-clutter I finally decided to frame them up and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.............

I love the way they turned out especially the group of three in the black frame with the white border, they will be in the shed this Friday along with Bec's weekend haul..

Thats it for now- no kids today , I am off to do some Vintage Girl work..

Do what you love- love what you do!

I have to say, I do truly love every aspect of my job. So much so that most of the time it doesn't feel like work.

I love sourcing, hunting, uncovering and discovering. I love buying, trading, bidding and bargaining. I love dusting, shining, tagging and blogging. I love listing, photographing, posting and parcelling. I love arranging, grouping, merchandising and styling.

I think, I realized JUST how much I loved it after a sleepless Saturday night in a dodgy motel, a 5am start, an 8 hour hunt for treasures and a 4 hour drive home alone.

With a massive bag of m&m's and a large espresso to keep me going......Despite being exhausted, i still couldn't wipe the smile off my face......recalling the day, the fabulous finds found.....catching up with fellow hunters, old friendly faces not seen for a while and some new friends made....

Really..... What's not to love?
And I know all of you vintage lovers will understand.
It is a way of life really......

A RARE FIND

Hi to all our blog friends! Last week being the first week my son went back to school after the Christmas holidays I thought I would finally get some down to some serious Vintage Girl business- sadly not our house was hit by a horrible bout of sickness- so while Bec was blogging, ebaying and doing a beautiful job of giving our stall a makeover I was stuck indoors with two sick little boys(and sick me) no school and definitely no work got done.. But this week I am back and business !

I wanted to share with you a rare find of ours recently that is listed on ebay at the moment.. We don't generally deal in a lot of 'retro' items, its not that we don't like it, just it doesn't seem to fit with the look of our stall. But when we found this amazing dining setting, we knew we had to have it ( for a little while anyway) Now I was under the impression it was a Chiswell setting, but a lovely lady has since let me know that it was actually made by Gereld Easden and after lots of crawling around on the floor I discovered a stamp dated- July 7th 1970. It really is a beautiful piece in more or less the same condition it was made.So somebody who loves retro is going to be very lucky to end up with this fabulous setting in their home very soon!

So that's it for today,I will be back soon!

Quick observation.

Following the lead of Tamarah from Shabby Vintage Junk, I thought I would try and do a post from my iPad and as I am on the road tonight and rather bored, here goes......

Sorry I don't have any exciting pics to share, other than this....

These cash flags are nearly all gone...they have been so popular but fear not, there are more on the way. If you would like to reserve some, let us know....we are happy to put aside for our blog friends.

Off to bed....early start to hunt for treasures. Will pop back Monday with some pics of the weekends "finds".

Well, thanks to blog press that was actually easier than blogging on the p.c....yippee

Goodnight

Books

Well, I am into day 2 of having all my children at school and feel like I am getting sooo much done, so with time up my sleeve, I will endevour to share all my daily finds with you all.....
Today, it is fabric covered books. I have always had a fondness for these and think the colours look so appealing together.

These books are in really great condition and at only $5 each, are an affordable way to create a sweet display.
The apothecary jar is filled with old train tickets. I purchased a very large amount of these recently- not sure why?? They were calling to me. They also make an interesting display I think. There are some groups of these for sale in our ebay store or you can message me if you would like to buy some direct.

New Beginnings

Hello everyone.

I apologise for my absence, but being school holidays here, my past few weeks have been taken up with camping adventures, trips to the city, and general slumming it in our pj's, enjoying the sleep in's and the sunshine.

My boys headed off to school this morning full of enthusiasm, especially my youngest, who has his very first day at school today. It is the end of an era for me, after 10 years at home, juggling work in between everyone and everything else.
