Taking the World by storm!

With my husband working from home for the day, I was all set for a big sleep in this morning......that was until i heard the postman at the door. That was enough for me to bounce out of bed. Waiting on several shipments from other parts of the globe, it didnt really matter which one it was, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning, and it was well worth getting up early. Just look what my lovely postman delivered....

They are vintage tin lithograph globe money boxes, in various sizes, made by the Ohio Art company. I have wanted one of these for such a long time- now I have 16 of them!!! I think Simone and I may need to keep one each, but the rest will be heading to The Vintage Shed and some will be listed in our Etsy store.

If any of our followers would like one, just let us know via email melbournevintagegirls@hotmail.com or visit our etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/thatvintagegirl/ or come on down to the Vintage Shed to check out these and all our lovely "finds".

ANOTHER BUSY WEEK

Its been another busy week for Bec and I, but its all been worth it- we have some great new stock this week. Our little stall is bursting at the seams so we have put a few bits on ebay, check out our store here
 http://stores.ebay.com.au/melbournebowerbird.

Our best find this week is a bulk lot of metal petrol station numbers, they are red and white and a little beaten up- just the way we like them! They are on ebay and selling fast, if any of our readers feel like they have to one or even all of them message us we can offer them at a discounted price.

As well as searching in all sorts of places ( nowhere is off limits- believe me! ) we have been doing a bit of sanding and painting of a few pieces that have been taking up space in my garage  our head office! There is a cute little church pew and a yellow stool headed to the shed tomorrow.

I really have a thing for bench seats lately - ask Bec I have sulked on a few occasions when we have missed out on some. So I was so excited to find these two extra long ones- they will have a good clean up, not sure about a paint, either way they will be headed to the vintage shed very soon.

please note-the two unruly children are sold seperately.

That about it for today- we love to hear from our followers so keep the comments coming ( all 9 of you!)

TAKE A SEAT- DINING IN VINTAGE STYLE

It has been a very busy week for Simone and I. Lots of culling took place over the weekend....odds and ends of stock that have been around far too long, and of course, there are always thoses "bits" you thought were a good idea at the time, and then later wondered what you were thinking? Well, they are now all in my bungalow awaiting a garage sale in the near future.

That done, we have some amazing new items in this week and ones we don't think will last long....

look at our divine farmhouse table / workbench. blue and aqua, nice and rustic and as solid as a rock. Perfect for a long narrow dining room or hallway..........aaaahhhhh wish i could keep it myself..... but wait! look what else we have.....the perfect accompaniment....

gorgeous metal and vinyl sebel chairs.....and there are 5 fabulous colours...red, blue, grey, yellow and turquoise. We have 22 of these lovely's and they won't last long....

And just to top top off the week of fabulous finds, are these vintage arithmetic charts- from the amazingly vast collection of David Bromley. We believe these are polish or czechoslavakian.

Some of our other new stock this week includes mini vintage soda bottles, and plywood and metal school chairs.

Enough for now......been a long day and have a full day out on the hunt again tomorrow.....

HOLIDAY & DECORATE

Hi everybody! I am back after a break with my family at Phillip Island, we had a great time and the weather was so good that we managed to get to the beach everyday. The hardest part about a holiday is the  unpacking and how can 4 people accumulate so much washing? I think I have done about 6 loads since we got back yesterday ! Our house has washing from one end to the other,I really need a holiday to get over my holiday!

I did manage to get to a garage sale while I was away-my family thought I was a bit insane getting up at 7am on my first morning- but its like an addiction! Once I saw the sign the sign nothing else would do- I had to be there! It was ok, I picked a few demi johns, glass jar and a vintage floor rug- there seems to be a bit of move towards Moroccan touches in interiors and I think this rug fits the bill!

some holiday finds
The other exciting thing that happened this week was that I received a book in the mail that I ordered a couple of weeks ago,its called decorate and co authored by the writer of one of my favourite blogs http://www.decor8blog.com/  it is full amazing homes and inspiring ideas - it really felt like christmas when I got it! It joins my ever growing pile of interior books.

my ever growing collection of interior books

so excited to fins this one on my doorstep!

This week Bec and I are excited that we are changing things up a bit at the V.Shed- we have had two stalls at opposite ends of the shed and after the opportunity came up to close down the back one and extend the front one- we jumped on it... So stay tuned for a some photos of how it all turns out..
